Whit Friday 2003
BEST RESULTS EVER FOR DENTON BRASS

Denton Brass performed excellently this year in the Tameside Whit Friday contests.

Denton have taken two prizes this year.

Bush Inn Droylsden  4th Section winners

Carrbrook  Deportment

The band performed excellently on our home turf at Denton Cricket club which was our first venue. Although we did not win any prizes it is rumoured that we were only beaten in the deportment prize by Cheshire constabulary, who tend to win deportment wherever they go. This year though they were beaten on deportment at Carrbrook, guess who beat them! DENTON BRASS.

The band met at Denton cricket club at 4:30 p.m. and after a rehearsal played the first venue at Denton, this produced a good start for the band with everyone pleased with their performance.
The next port of call was Droylsden where the band went straight on stage, another good performance.
We then travelled on to the Broadoak and were relieved to find only two bands in front of us, yet another good performance. As we returned to the coach the atmosphere was electric as everyone knew that we had done well at all venues so far three done and only 6:15 p.m.
Our next port of call was Hurst village again only one band before us.
Mossley was the next place and unbelievably straight on to play. (no chance of a drink yet)  on to Mickelhurst surely we must get a rest here, no chance, straight on again.
The band are still playing well, Kevin (M.D.) is unwell he is still smiling with six venues completed. Carrbrook next, always five or more bands in front of us here we must get a rest this time. We arrive at Carrbrook and are told to line up straight away, were on next, another good performance seven venues and still only 8:00 p.m. This time we decide to have a drink and call for a 45 minute rest
The night continued in a similar manner with virtually no queues at Stalybridge Labour, Stalybridge Celtic, Tame Valley, and ending at the Station in Ashton. After eleven venues we decided to call an end at 10:00p.m. then headed back to a party at Silver Springs.

WELL DONE TO ALL BAND MEMBERS. A NIGHT TO BE PROUD OF
